David Bowie was born in 1947. On his birthday last year he released his acclaimed album Blackstar and the world was shocked to hear of his death just two days later. Throughout his life he remained a voracious reader, taking 400 books with him when filming The Man Who Fell To Earth (because 'I was knocking around with some dodgy people and I didn't want them nicking any of my books') and touring with cabinets stuffed full of them.
