Antonio Carluccio the Italian Super Chef dies aged 80

Antonio was a much loved and respected Italian cookery writer, cook, restaurateur, food expert and loved TV personality, he was regarded as the Godfather of Italian cooking. Raised in the rural North West of Italy, Antonio had a rare and privileged breadth of culinary knowledge.

In 1999 Antonio co-founded Carluccio's and it is his dedication and legacy which has made the restaurant group one of the UK’s most successful and well-known brands.
He was a great man and will be remembered with love and affection.

He was such a genuinely nice man. He was only 80, too early for an italian to die, we usually live longer than that.

Carluccio, who was born and raised in Italy, had restaurants in Britain, Turkey and the United Arab Emirates bearing his name.

He also appeared in several television shows and wrote 22 cookbooks.

 Both the Italian and British governments honored him for his work. He received the Commendatore title from the Italian government in 1998. Queen Elizabeth II made him an Officer of the Order of the British Empire in 2007.
